Z-Tech’s Brighton Beach Clean
Posted: 19th May 2022
Z-Tech’s specialist projects team working with Southern Water spent a day as volunteers on Brighton beach in May, helping to make sure it stays clean and safe for residents and visitors. It was the first time the 28-strong team had come together in person.
The volunteer day was the idea of Z-Tech project manager, Gerald Cross, who has a keen interest in sustainability. He thought it was a good opportunity for the team to help out in the local community.
Daisy Mcgeeney-Murray, Z-Tech’s Operations Manager, said: “I’m really proud of the team for this great community-focused effort. They are a positive team of electrical, instrumentation and control specialists who are delivering some amazing and valuable work.
“We have people from all around the world on the team – New Zealand, Australia, South Africa, Ireland, Azerbaijan and England. There’s a great atmosphere in the team and they work together so well.”
They have recently completed an upgrade to alarm systems to reduce the risk of spills to the environment across key sites in the region as part of the AMP7 Resilience programme. They are also working on two other Southern Water projects – Sustainability Fix and Resilience First – with Gillian Parkinson and Colin Fyffe.
Z-Tech’s people regularly volunteer to help care for beaches and rivers in the south east and London areas.
