Water Division Finance Team get growing with care home garden revamp

Recently, our Water Division Finance Team dug in at Jubilee Court care home, Stevenage, to revamp their garden.

Organised by Emma West, Finance Director, and Ross Henderson, Financial Controller, 12 volunteers from our team dedicated their time to tidying up the garden of the care home, close to our Stevenage office.

Cutting back the greenery, which had become overgrown, the team also jet washed the main patio, upcycled some of the garden tables, painted the shed in bright colours and planted some pots for the residents to enjoy. The residents took a great interest in the team’s work, and their smiles said it all.

Afterwards, our colleagues took time to chat with the residents, with some expressing their own passion for gardening.

Speaking on the day, Ross said: “Using our awayday as an opportunity to support a care home close to the office where we work was an amazing experience for all of us involved.

“To have such a positive impact in people’s lives, to see how interested the residents were in what we were doing, and their reactions afterwards, was the most rewarding feeling.

“We, as a team, also benefited from the time outside our normal workspace to bond and left feeling as though getting stuck in had far more benefit than sitting in a room. We are now eagerly awaiting the next opportunity to do something similar.”

Across M Group Services, we are passionate about creating a positive legacy within the local communities in which we work, as part of our Environmental, Social and Governance (ESG) commitments.
