M Group Services’ Water Division supporting United Utilities’ record investments in North West

Morrison Water Services and Z-Tech Control Systems, both part of M Group Services’ Water Division, are proud to be supporting United Utilities in the largest proposed investment in water and wastewater infrastructure in the North West for more than a century.
Supporting United Utilities’ strategic ambition to improve river health and create a stronger, greener and healthier North, Morrison Water Services has won a place on the Minor Works Framework and Z-Tech has secured a place on the Lot 2 M&E Installation Framework.
Working with United Utilities and the frameworks other delivery partners, Morrison Water Service and Z-Tech will support smaller, county-based schemes improving process treatment facilities, supporting plans for standardisation across the network and installing storm overflow solutions. The solutions will all support the Better Rivers Programme
Under these frameworks, Morrison Water Services and Z-Tech will leverage its extensive expertise in delivering challenging capital wastewater and clean water solutions, alongside its experience in supporting combined sewer overflows (CSO) and river pollution schemes through its MEICA capabilities.
Both frameworks start in April 2025 and last for five years, with the possibility of a further five-year extension. This cements the longstanding relationship that M Group Services’ Water Division has with United Utilities.
In addition to infrastructure improvements, the contracts will create increased levels of social value, investing in local people and working with local enterprise partnerships to create employment opportunities.
Lee Wood, Area Director at Morrison Water Services, said: “I am pleased to report that due to the consistently high levels of service our teams have been delivering, Morrison Water Services and Z-Tech have been successful in becoming a United Utilities' civils construction partner, and mechanical and electrical installation partner, harnessing our MEICA capabilities.
These wins reflect the consistently high levels of service our teams have been delivering through existing contracts with United Utilities.”
“We’re happy to be supporting United Utilities in building a stronger, greener and healthier North West.”
Jane Simpson, Capital Delivery Director at United Utilities, said: “Our plan to leave a legacy in the North West goes beyond developing infrastructure - we also want to grow businesses, harness the skills and knowledge of local people, and provide career opportunities to make the region stronger, greener and healthier.
“Our latest partnership is a huge step towards making this happen, and I’m incredibly pleased to have companies with local bases on board, bringing with them a wealth of regional experience to help us deliver quickly for customers in each of our five counties.
“We’ll work collaboratively with these partners with a shared vision for the North West, which includes setting up apprenticeships and skills academies as part of our long-term plans.”
